MarMy First Pre-Poo
Since I haven’t really been talking hair on my main blog (or this one… or IRL, for that matter) I figured I’d do a little update.
I’ve been bad. Real bad. Big Sexy has been neglected because I’m really just over all the work that it takes to maintain it as it gets longer. I am planning on cutting it once I find the cut for me, but until then I just haven’t maintained. The height of my slactivity was about three weeks ago when I washed it… and that was it. Didn’t deep condition. Didn’t detangle. Didn’t do anything with it once it dried. I got halfway through the process and said forget it! And then I didn’t wash it or anything for two weeks. Just kept it in a puff. I was in a funk y’all!
Once I finally decided to do the right thing, I wanted to make amends by trying a pre-poo. That’s a treatment done before shampooing, which many claim help detangling. I mixed up some conditioner, olive oil, coconut oil & honey, coated my hair in the mixture & let it sit for about an hour. After shampooing with my usual Shea Moisture coconut & hibiscus shampoo, I took to detangling. It did not go well. The pre-poo mixture may have helped, considering how long it had been since I had done anything to it. If so, I hate to imagine how it would’ve been without it!
But it did do something good… I think. I washed my hair a week ago and it’s still very soft, even though I haven’t put anything extra on it to keep it soft. So I’m assuming it’s the pre-poo. Or the little bit of extra humidity in the air. Idk.
So yeah! There you have it. I’m going to try it again to see if it actually helps or if it’s all in my head.
Oh yeah! Unrelated kinds, but I finally got a trim. Professionally. At JCPenney, of all places. And it was great. No salon horror story this time. The girl doing my hair had a TWA herself so I think that made a difference. -

I think I may cut my hair to this length instead of a TWA. It’s so cute!
